Ways on sharing of information through network system

    Like in most tertiary hospitals now a days, automation of information  system in a healthcare institution has been known to produce excellent outcomes. Automation has been applied to almost all sections of the institution including the clinical division of the hospitals like the nursing and medical information system, the laboratory and imaging information system and information system of other ancillary departments. By this, departments can easily access information that they need in order to deliver an effective care to the patients. Here are some of the ways to share information through network system to other departments:

Local Area Network (LAN)

is a computer network that interconnects computers in a limited area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, or office building. The defining characteristics of LANs, in contrast to wide area networks (WANs), include their usually higher data-transfer rates, smaller geographic area, and lack of a need for leased telecommunication lines.

 

Wide Area Network (WAN)

is a telecommunication network that covers a broad area. Business and government entities utilize WANs to relay data among employees, clients, buyers, and suppliers from various geographical locations. In essence this mode of telecommunication allows a business to effectively carry out its daily function regardless of location.

Personal Area Network (PAN)

is a computer network used for communication among computer devices, including telephones and personal digital assistants, in proximity to an individual's body. The devices may or may not belong to the person in question. The reach of a PAN is typically a few meters. PANs can be used for communication among the personal devices themselves (intrapersonal communication), or for connecting to a higher level network and the internet.

Can automation save the nurses?

      Many nurses now a days are experiencing difficulties in the workplace. The top four problems of local nurses in the workplace are namely; excessive documentation, long turnaround times, inaccurate nursing process, and poor communication which leads to ineffective nursing care.. Many hospitals now a days are incorporating automation in their system which somehow helped them get rid of these problems.

   Automation is the use of control system and information technologies to reduce the need for human work in the production of goods and services. By applying automation in the health care system this will somehow help reduce the work load of the nurses and it allows nurses to spend more time in doing patient care.

With automation nurses benefits the most because of large reduction of paper-based documentation process, shortening of turnaround times, improvement of accuracy of many nurse's process, and elimination of time consuming and redundant processes that haunts nurses in the health care environment .
